They say that education is the key to success and this is the only treasure in life that no one could rob from you. However, on the part of most celebrities, they tend to set aside their studies and elect to prioritize their careers in the industry. But, at some point of their lives, these celebs might come to a realization that earning a degree and having a college diploma is more important. This is what Kapuso actress Vaness del Moral has pondered after eight years of being delayed from finishing her studies.
In an interview on the show “Tunay na Buhay”, the Starstruck alumna shared some highlights of her private life that the public probably didn’t know. The 29-year-old actress who is widely-known for her protagonist roles on various Kapuso primetime series admitted that despite having a successful career in the show business, she longed to have a college diploma.
Recounting her early days, Vaness revealed that she started as a ramp model in Baguio. However, when she came in Manila she failed to enter on the modelling industry because of her height.
“Pagdating ko ng Maynila, maliit pala ako, ‘yong height ko. No’ng 13, 14 years old ako, ‘yung 5’4″ matangkad. Ngayon na 29 na ako, 5’4” pa rin ako. Hindi na ako lumaki,”she said.
In 2005, she tried her luck by joining the third season of the Kapuso reality talent search “StarStruck”. Despite making it to the Final 40, Vaness was the first one to be eliminated on the show.
“Ako ‘yong unang-unang natanggal. Inisip ko, ‘Sige natanggal ako, ako pa ‘yong unang na-eliminate, I will prove them wrong,” she shared.
Starstruck has paved for her to be discovered as talent of the GMA Network. She was given minor roles on various Kapuso shows and series such as “Muli” (2007), “Adik Sa’yo (2009), “Kokak” (2010), “Faithfully” (2012), “Because of You” (2015), Encantadia (2016) and “Impostora” (2018), where she showcased her great talent in acting by playing kontrabida roles.
However, despite having a successful career in the showbiz industry, Vaness came to a realization that she still needed to pursue her dream of having a college diploma.
“Mas pinili kong magtrabaho na kaysa mag-aral. Kasi inisip ko, hindi ko naman kailangan mag-graduate para kumita ng pera. Hanggang sa finally, mga four years ago, na-realize ko na wait lang, paano pala kung ayoko nang mag-artista? Anong gagawin ko?”
So, with the support of her husband Matt Kier, the actress decided to pursue her studies. She is now earning a degree on Mass Communication and she hopes to graduate soon.
“Hangga’t nasa school kayo kailangan tapusin niyo ‘yung pag-aaral ninyo,” she added.
