he showbiz industry is an extremely competitive and demanding field. It’s no wonder that celebrity parents don’t want to expose their children to the limelight, especially at an early age. The same can be said of Dingdong Avanzado, who is the husband of renowned singer Jessa Zaragoza.
In an interview with ABS-CBN Push, the patriarch proclaimed that he is extremely supportive of his daughter Jayda’s performing abilities. However, he admitted that he doesn’t want to see her in television programs just yet.
He said he is okay with the young woman performing on their concerts but not on shows. According to him, talent search programs don’t appear to fit her. Instead, Dingdong wanted her to pursue music since Jayda doesn’t need to be further recognized.
What she needs is for people to take her music seriously so that she could grow as a performer. He added that his daughter is not a “copycat” and mentioned that people constantly watch her on YouTube.
His exact words were:
“I don’t think that’s the route for her because why join a talent search if everybody can see that she’s talented already? I think right now what she needs is help get her music out there.”
“She’s not a copycat. Jayda is her own music and she does covers already. People can see her, they go to her YouTube page and see how she performs and nakikita namin ang response sa kanya.”
Dingdong Avanzado explained that despite that, he is not thoroughly discouraging Jayda from entering showbiz. He reasoned out:
“I don’t think it’s for us to discourage her kasi parang sinabi na rin namin na hindi kami proud sa industriya namin eh hindi namin siya pinilit. We did not encourage but we did not discourage her as well.”
“But when we saw that she’s very passionate dun sa kanyang music eh kailangan suportahan namin. We support her and we are thankful because God has blessed her with a talent like that.”
He also shared that he and his wife Jessa are extremely proud of their daughter’s musical abilities. He added:
“What we’re excited about is when she comes out with her original music and that’s what she’s been preparing for. Siya yung lumikha ng mga awit and it will come. Sooner than later. We’re very excited for that kasi nakita namin iba siya magsulat.”
“There’s just something there that as parents we’re very excited for her and very hopeful. We hope that when the time comes, people can hear what she has to offer.”
The source noted that Jayda is not only a skilled composer; she’s also very hands-on when it comes to her music’s technical aspect.
Here some netizens reaction:
Dingdong Avanzado continued:
“She’s very involved sa production work ng music niya. In fact in our album now she helped produced the track where she was going to be singing. She’s singing one of the songs that I recorded before ‘I Wish I Could.’ I recorded that 20 years ago. Sinulat ko yun tapos rinecord ko. Ngayon 20 years after siya na yung kumakanta.”
