In November of 2017, comedienne K Brosas revealed that she has chronic anxiety disorder. Initially, she didn’t have any idea she was suffering from it until she met with a psychiatrist. She shared:
“Almost 12 years ago, over a decade, I frequented emergency rooms. So, the doctor was bewildered, I’m already a regular [patient], but they couldn’t figure out what was wrong with me? So the doctor gave me anti-anxiety meds — things to calm me down — or downers. And that’s when all my symptoms went away, the doctor told me, ‘I think you need to see a psychiatrist.’”
K Brosas shared that upon meeting her psychiatrist, she cried so much despite not knowing the professional personally. She also advised others who have the same disorder to seek professional help.
Recently, the comedienne opened up about her condition again with Philippine Entertainment Portal (PEP). She shared that she felt overwhelmed by those who responded to her revelation, realizing that there are many people who are actually going through the same ordeal as hers.
Last year, K Brosas had anxiety attack twice during live telecast of “It’s Showtime.” She then thanked the noontime show host Billy Crawford who assisted her up to the infirmary for giving the cameramen a heads up to evade taking footage of the comedienne. At the latter part of her video, K Brosas again advised those who have the same disorder to not self-medicate.
“Don’t self-medicate. Oh ‘yung mga nakikinig, mga dimunyo kayo, ‘wag tatanga-tanga ha. Pangalawa, ‘wag din kayong magseself-diagnose. ‘Wag kayong magsasabi ng, ‘Oh my God. I’m suffering from anxiety disorder also.’ Haha! Suppressed depression.”
The comedienne also revealed that she did not diagnose herself. As a matter of fact, she had four psychiatrists and even asked for a faith healer’s help as she had no idea about her condition at first.
