Liza Soberano was defiant when she defended her “Bagani” co-star Sofia Andres from the criticism surrounding her presently. Sofia received a lot of bashing and criticisms from bloggers when, during one of their press conferences, she was caught using her phone. Sofia immediately apologized for what happened.
In their recent thanksgiving press conference for their newest Kapamilya series, Liza defended Sofia and told the interviewers that Sofia is simply shy. “I think the misconception with Sofia kasi is she’s very shy.”
Liza even inferred that it may be because that is how Sofia was raised. “I think siguro her upbringing in her house”, adding that Sofia is a middle child.
This statement was contradicted by Enrique Gil, Liza Soberano’s on-screen partner pointing out that he is also a middle child. Liza immediately called out that Sofia is a female and females are emotional. “She’s a female, Quen. We have emotions.”
Before her statements could raise reactions, Liza immediately continued “I’m not saying that you guys don’t have emotions, but we’re emotional creatures… I’m just saying that as females, especially at that time of the month, you know”.
Liza wasn’t the only one who sided with Sofia during the press conference. Director Richard Arellano even joked and asked the interviewers if there were any issues with his stars.
Direk Richard said, “Parang anak lang na tinuturuan mo nang tamang bagay. Cooperative naman si Sofia”.
His statement was immediately followed by Lester Pimentel, also a director from Bagani. “Kapag tinitingnan mo si Sofia, kapag tinitingnan mo siya, mahinhin. Pero kapag nasa take na o nasa shoot, she does everything. So far, we didn’t use any double for her. Kahit na gaano kahirap, gaano kapagod, she never says no, very, very professional.”
What is your reaction about this issue? Was Liza Soberano was right in siding with Sofia Andres? Were the criticisms against Sofia justified or unfair? Don’t forget to share this with your family and friends!
