64-year old actor, Edu Manzano has officially ended his contract with his current network provider, GMA. Many are asking why he did not renew his contract with the network.
Rumor has it that the reason why he did not renew his contract was because he was given a role in FPJ’s “Ang Probinsyano”, a “teleserye” in the rival channel ABS-CBN. Edu did confirm this and said that he will be starring in the show. He added that the offer has been given to him even before the end of his contract. “There was an offer to renew pero dumating din yung offer, na actually, matagal-tagal na ring ino-offer itong ‘Ang Probinsyano’ sa akin.”
He will be portraying the role of a vice-president in his new show. Asked if he is willing to run again for a national position after being the vice-mayor of Makati, he said that he was already able to serve the public and that is enough for him. “You know, nakapag-serve tayo kahit papano, nakaalis tayo sa public service na hindi nabahiran ang ating pangalan. So, I guess, tama na yun.”
He ran last 2001 for mayor in Makati after being a vice-mayor for three terms but he lost to Jejomar Binay. He also did try to run for the position of vice-president last 2010 alongside his running mate Gibo Teodoro but lost again to Jejomar Binay.
